These are just a few of the words and phrases that come to mind when you first glimpse Lympne Castle, where Niki and Baz had chosen to celebrate the start of their new life together, accompanied by the sounds of Adam Chandler's swing band, playing on home turf, and creating a soundscape that seemed almost part of the fabric of this striking setting.
Niki and Baz's wedding was all about understated style, with small, subtle floral displays in delicate bud vases, and swathes of off-white linen, accented with gold. It looked completely at home here, and the sound of swing was made for it, the music almost seeming to pick out the colours of the décor.
The music began soft and light, a backdrop as Niki and Baz mingled with their guests, and everyone spent an hour or so talking, laughing, and helping themselves to the buffet spread. Livelier medleys led the wedding party through the change from late afternoon to early evening, warming them up for two hours of dancing, the bold notes of swing setting a truly memorable tone.
Swing is the perfect soundtrack to a wedding, or any other celebration, and a great way to express feelings that can be difficult to put into words.
Niki:"I'd definitely recommend Adam and his swing band; everything was completely on-point, they looked the part, and were clearly professionals, as well as being very talented musicians. I couldn't have asked for a better day – it really was absolutely brilliant. Thanks, guys!"
Baz:"We'd always known we wanted something a little bit different, yet still not too “out there”; swing seemed the perfect choice, not at all wacky, but still not something everyone would opt for. We're so glad we chose Adam Chandler; he and his band are clearly very talented musicians in their own right, and the energy they had together suggested they're good friends, too. It was a magical evening, and the music really did make it."
