Highgate House, Northamptonshire Wedding, 26th August 2015
Wedding Band performing in Creaton Northamptonshire
Swinging style in a classic rural retreat as Tom and Diana say “I do.”
With landscaped lawns and long, luxuriously furnished rooms that whisper timeless elegance, Northamptonshire's Highgate House was the summer setting for Tom and Diana taking the plunge for the first time.
Both in their sixties, Tom and Diana met as volunteers, working in care homes to help those with dementia access memories through music. It was here that they discovered a shared love of traditional swing band music, something that would become a feature of their courtship, and a central part of their wedding celebrations.
Any wedding is always a magical experience for the musicians tasked with creating enduring memories for the happy couple, as the emotions of the guests feed into and fuel the performance, creating a vibrant feedback loop that takes everything up a notch, and elevates a good celebration to a great one. For Adam and his band, however, there's something even more special in seeing two people finding lasting happiness in their twilight years, and wanting to share that happiness publicly.
Working with Tom and Diana, Adam created a medley of swing sounds that took in the happy couples' whole lifetime, from childhood memories, to the soundtrack of their working life, right up to the modern expressions they'd both discovered in the leisurely days since their retirement from active, fulfilling careers in finance and retail. On this summer afternoon, with the weather behaving itself perfectly, the sounds of swing seemed a natural part of the Northamptonshire countryside, as Highgate House put on its glad rags, and Adam and his musicians created a stunning send off for this charming couple.
