2018 already looks set to be a busy year for Animation, the latest addition to Adam Chandler's stable of quality events entertainment, with word of mouth, and impressed guests at the events we've been providing our musical medleys for since the end of 2017 ensuring that our diary's getting packed pretty quickly!
Our first corporate function, other than the Christmas parties that brought so much early awareness, was for Colchester-based lifestyle design company, Abarey Zandos, who gave us a brief that was deceptively simple; “We work with millennials-made-good, and established success stories. Our oldest client is in his eighties, our youngest has just turned eighteen. We've been working on low-key reputation building for the past three years, but we're ready to make a name for ourselves, and attract more clients. We need musical support for the event we've organised to help us do that.”
After looking in to some of the lifestyles Abarey Zandos have designed, Animation were just a little bit overawed! Could we live up to the reputation these guys had created, seemingly effortlessly? Well, all we could do was give it our best, and try to work everything this dynamic brand was and could be into our performance.
We chose to go with an LED light display that's rapidly becoming a contemporary classic; warm white and blue. It looks good, without being too gaudy. Subtle style seemed to be what Abarey Zandos specialised in, and what Animation would have to promote at their launch party.
Choosing a playlist was a challenge. After several false starts, we decided to look at the venue, not the client.
Layer Marney Tower gives a first impression of being an eighties redbrick interpretation of the 1920's apartment block featured in the Poirot films – which gave us a musical direction! We'd just have to hope it didn't prove to be a false turn on the night...
Fortunately, the staff and clients of Abarey Zandos loved Animation's sound, with both their eldest and youngest clients coming up to congratulate us on a job well done. Phew!
