A day-long wedding celebration at a truly unique venue saw We Light It Up lighting it up for Tommy and Nessa in Bedfordshire.
Luton Hoo Walled Garden is a truly magical venue, and we knew that we were going to have to up our Light Up game in order to make the most of its potential, and add something extra to the already stunning setting.
Tommy and Nessa, along with toddler son Alistair, had booked We Light It Up to provide music throughout the day, which began in Luton Hoo's Conservatory, set up for a casual wedding breakfast. “Breakfast at Tiffany's” seemed a logical starting point, and, with soft, morning tones of warm white, golden yellow, and pale blue pulsing slowly from the drum kit – We Light It Up played a soft medley of breakfast, spring, and morning-related hits, while the bride and groom chatted with their guests, and everyone enjoyed a luxuriously lazy start to what promised to be a truly special day.
The ceremony was in the afternoon, with Tommy and Nessa opting to take their vows on the terrace. They'd chosen a selection of rock anthems - “modern hymns”, as Tommy described them - and We Light It Up took guests through a very contemporary expression of devotion, this time bringing in some brighter lights on the drum kit, and raising the volume a little more, dropping to a soft, steady backbeat as the couple made their promises to one another.
We had a break while the couple and their guests posed for photographs, and enjoyed an unstructured afternoon out on the lawned garden, with a buffet spread set up in the Conservatory, and plenty for Alistair, and the other junior guests, to enjoy – some of the big kids even got into the spirit of things with some jumbo soft play furniture!
Then, it was on to the evening celebration, a riotous medley of sounds and spectacle, as guests rocked out on the disco dance floor, and We Light It Up turned the lights and volume up to eleven. When the First Dance is Billy Idol's “White Wedding”, you know things are only going to get better from there!
