Wedding Band performing in Liverpool Street London
Cool formality on Liverpool Street
Musical Orphans very much took the music to the background at this formal wedding dinner, where a traditional sit down meal was given a modern twist, with an evening that blended the best of formal dining, cafe culture, and London night life in a relaxed yet structured wedding celebration for city slicker couple Harris and Cheryl.
Cheryl, who was organising every detail of her own wedding, wanted a cafe experience with an upmarket feel, so, while guests sat in small groups, eating Thai light bites and drinking fruit cordials, dressed in traditional morning suits and elegant dresses, with a smattering of kilts from Harris' Scottish relations, Musical Orphans played a quiet medley of cafe-style sounds, ranging through jazz and blues to swing, and a selection the lighter, less intrusive pop tunes.
It was an unusual wedding reception, but it worked, and allowed Adam to take Musical Orphans through a different expression of their musical prowess, showing that they could create soft, subtle backdrops, as well as getting a lively dance going.
Harris:"We'd known from the very beginning that we didn't want music to be the focal point of our reception. In the modern world, people of our generation are so busy with work, life, and everything else that we don't really get to spend time with our friends. Cheryl and I had both had active social lives until we started to pursue our respective careers, and we wanted our wedding celebrations to be a chance to hang out and catch up with those friends, which meant we didn't want conversation to be drowned out by hired chords.
Adam Chandler completely saw where we were coming from, and I was more than impressed with the way Musical Orphans played on the day. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for quality wedding entertainment."
