Public style with Musical Orphans at the V&A
How do you celebrate the day your toyshop gets listed on the London Stock Exchange? By booking out the V&A Museum of Childhood for a sit down dinner for your investors, top clients, and leading staff lights, and hiring Musical Orphans to play the songs that made up the soundtrack to your carving, hammering, stitching, and painting. That's exactly what Diana and David, the husband and wife team behind newly listed DaDi, I Want!, a boutique designed to appeal to children of all ages, whilst being equally welcoming to their parents and grandparents, did on the day they'd spent twenty years working towards; when a business that began as a garden-shed hobby took to the skies of the Stock Exchange, on wings that had already been catching the eyes of those who like their children's toys, teen electronics, bedroom, playroom, and nursery furniture to be handcrafted, and made to last.
The long central hall was set with tables and chairs crafted from the trunks of felled trees, and painted to resemble animals, toadstools, and magical elements; the food may have been wholly grown up, ordered from a top London restaurant, but the atmosphere was all about childhood, and included items that DaDi, I Want! sell across their network of stores – starting with the furniture.
Musical Orphans played a medley of pop songs, classical music, and children's favourites, drawn from David and Diana's YouTube playlists, that they'd put on while they worked on creating items that would be enjoyed by several generations to come. It was certainly something a little different to the way Stock Exchange listings are typically celebrated, but it went perfectly with DaDi's ethos and identity – a hallmark of all Musical Orphans' performances.
With over a decade of experience performing at venues and events across the UK, Musical Orphans should be your first choice if you're looking for a band that can make your celebration truly personal.
