Our stylish Swing Band set the tone for a fiftieth birthday party tno remember at the Norfolk gem of Bressingham High Barn
Whatever you may have thought when you were fifteen, the truth is that, unless life really does hand you a bad deal, you're going to turn fifty one day, and you might as well do it in style, with a touch of class.
Bressingham Hall and High Barn are the perfect setting for those who want to age gracefully, while a lively swing band give you tunes you can't help but keep moving to, showing that fleet feet aren't just for kids.
The sounds of swing are the perfect accompaniment to celebrating half a century of life, blending timeless classics with contemporary twists in a river of sound that will echo in your memory long after you leave your chosen venue at the end of the night.
With ivy accentuating the walls of High Barn, and the sounds of swing accentuating the internal elegance of this charming rural venue that offers all the style and service you'd expect of a city centre focal point, Graham Bailey's birthday party was always going to be a triumph of style and sophistication – just as the latter half of his five decades of life had been, with two successful businesses coming either side of a strong, lasting marriage to wife Heather, and ensuring that their children, Harry, James, and Fiona, enjoyed everything they could have wished for.
This party was arranged by Graham's children, all in their thirties, as a way of giving something back, and the band was only too happy to give the gift of talented musical performance from every single member of his swing band.
Graham:"I wasn't expecting anything like this – Fi told me she and her brothers were “taking me out for a meal” - there was a meal, so she wasn't being entirely misleading, but I think it's safe to say that's not what I'll remember!
The music was perfect, exactly what I would have chosen for myself, and played very well indeed. I may not be too happy at getting ever closer to OAP-dom, but I had a very happy birthday indeed."
